Málaga - Costa del Sol Airport:eEverything you need to know

Since 2011, Málaga Airport has also been known as Málaga - Costa del Sol Airport. It is located about 8 km from the city and, thanks to its strategic geographical position, has earned a top position among the busiest airports in Spain. With nearly 20 million passengers passing through the airport each year, finding a parking spot can be a real challenge. You can spend a lot of time looking for a parking space that perfectly fits your needs or is simply available. Therefore, we recommend booking in advance.

Málaga Airport

Málaga Airport, just a few kilometers from the city center, has seen its importance grow on the national and international stage thanks to the inauguration of new air routes. Due to the significant increase in traffic, a new terminal and runway have been built; the airport now consists of 3 terminals and a cargo terminal.

When to arrive at the Airport?

Traffic, delays, finding a spot, parking... getting to the airport on time for your flight is not something to be taken for granted. That's why we need to ask ourselves, when should I arrive at the airport?

For:

  • intercontinental flights, we recommend arriving at the airport at least 3.5 hours in advance to allow time for all checks;

  • domestic or Schengen area trips, it is preferable to arrive 2.5 hours in advance.

To avoid delays, we recommend booking your parking spot in advance so you can park in just a few seconds.

What documents should you bring with you?

Before you go on a trip, make a list of the documents you need to bring with you, so you don't lose your mind.

Depending on your destination, we recommend:

  • Boarding pass;

  • ID card or valid travel document (if traveling within the Schengen area);

  • Passport or visa if traveling outside European borders;

  • Bus, train, parking tickets, or others if you have opted for any of these options.

Another important issue is the documents for minors. If you are traveling with your children, remember to bring valid documents for expatriation.

If, on the other hand, a minor is traveling:

  • alone;

  • with an adult who is not their legal guardian;

  • with only one parent

remember to have an official document signed by both parents or the legal guardian authorizing them to travel abroad.
